February 6 - March 2, 2013, Art Gallery of Bancroft

When we came back from Australia in December 2011, I returned to my part-time job with the goal to keep painting on my days off. I have managed to stick to that plan and created enough to put on a show. Relatives of mine, John and Carol Kirby, suggested I submit to the gallery they volunteer at, the Art Gallery of Bancroft (www.agb.weebly.com), where they live. I did and I was accepted. Thank you, John and Carol, and the rest of the board at the gallery for the opportunity!

I finished my last painting this past weekend and drove up to Bancroft yesterday to drop the paintings off. John and Carol fed me at their lovely home on Tait Lake. We then headed to the gallery, unloaded the paintings and started hanging them. The opening reception is this Friday evening. As with any artist, I had moments of elation when I would experience breakthroughs in my techniques and moments of feeling shattered when the 'flow' just wasn't happening. I experienced that this past Saturday night. I am done for now - I did it - Phew!

November 26th, 2011 - In-House Art Show

Me and My Painting Partner, Barbara
In-house Year End Art Show
While in Western Australia in 2011, I had the year off. I decided to get back to painting. I met another artist at Rein and Silka's school and we got together and started painting. We started off at just one day a week and by September we were up to four and five days a week. We ended up having show in November. It was a great success and we donated 25% of our proceeds to the art program at Kyilla Primary School.

I miss you, Barbara! Looking forward to working on a future antipodal collaboration...
